David Lindner - Wonga Pastoral Co, Morgan SA
Question: Are you happy with Thermoskin, would you use it again?
Answer: "Yes. My brother was watching the stock as we were going past and a couple of observations of what we believe normally happens quite often in these cold mornings. One morning we had -7 and another one -5 and his observations were that we just didn’t see the sheep huddled behind bushes like we usually do, trying to get on one side of the bush to get out of the breeze.A couple of mornings we had a light shower of rain, maybe a mil or two if we are lucky, but the sheep were out grazing and that was a few days off shears which is really good because they just weren’t huddled behind a bush again. They would usually be huddled behind a bush first thing in the morning, you would see them there huddled up and tucked up for hours and we didn’t see as much of that and even with those few showers during the day they didn’t go back and hide in the scrub they actually came out and tried to go grazing.
And the one that really got us – I think it was that morning of -7, my brother went out and his dogs were absolutely frozen, one of them was struggling to walk and they were shivering. We had a little mob of wethers which were about 4 days off shears in a small holding paddock next to his house and when he drove past them on his way out they stood up from behind the bush and looked at him. They were quite happy. He said it was just astounding to see that they weren’t suffering.
We were really impressed."

"We believe that body weight is important for growing good weaners, conception rates, ability to lamb well and rear a lamb. You don't want to lose body weight through pregnancy. It costs a lot more to put weight on again, so it is better not to lose body weight which is where Thermoskin comes in," said Bev Norman.
"To help maintain body weight and to prevent the effect of cold snaps after shearing, we use the spray on weathershield Thermoskin. This gives the sheep protection from the cold; they don't get a check after shearing and it also speeds up the healing of any shearing cuts."

"We run up to 3000 ewes on eastern fall high country in South East NSW. This is tough country where the weather can change at the drop of a hat. We shear ewes in May and lambs in January. We used to quite regularly have to shed sheep off shears if the weather turned bad. We have been using Thermoskin now for 5 years, our weather sheds are now redundant and there are no more late night dog trials. We would not consider shearing now without using Thermoskin. It is cheap insurance for us."
Allan Hood - CRT, Cooma NSW
Cooma CRT have been selling Thermoskin to their customers for several years -one grower's response "Very efficient way to keep warm . I normally lose 3-4% of my 5,000 stock from cold snaps, after using Thermoskin, I only lost one animal'."
James Fraser - CRT, Crookwell NSW
McGeechan's Crookwell CRT have been selling Thermoskin to their customers for several years. James says "there are no set backs" and he talks about the first time a customer used this product. We applied it on Friday afternoon and had a shocking weekend, terrible weather conditions, and I was not game to actually give them a call. It was the Sunday night or could have even been Monday when I spoke to him. We only treated 500 animals at the time and he said to me I wished we had done the lot. The ones we sprayed on Friday afternoon, they were all out grazing and the ones they didn't treat were all in sheltered country and they could not find them. That in itself was enough proof that the product definitely works. They just go ahead in leaps and bounds. I don't know how much condition they can lose but say they lose 5% of where they should be, well that set back is going to take another month to pick up on whereas if they are not cold and not using all that excess energy they are straight out into the field grazing, they are just going to go ahead in leaps and bounds.
Brian Anderson - Lower Silvia Vale, NSW
"I found our sheep never lost weight after shearing. It had become cold and they did not run down into the gullys. They stayed around on the side of hills eating."
Kim Henderson - Grogansworth, Bowning NSW
Kim and George Henderson speak about Thermoskin in this video ...
"Having seen the results at minus 5 degrees, I was able to sleep soundly knowing that I wouldn't have to get up in the middle of the night if a cold snap was coming."
"The rewards are so great..."
Garry Seaman - Lockness, Crookwell NSW
"I was a sceptic about Thermoskin but after seeing it work I had to turn around to Henry and say you are on to something here."
Ian and Helen Cathles - Cooradigbee, Wee Jasper NSW
"The real difference Thermoskin makes is that the day after shearing, the sheep and goats are feeding at day break in frost, wind or rain. The result is animals are growing their fleece and gaining weight optimising joining potential, all from day one. And for us, it takes out the continuing stress over the weather."
Andrew and Max Rayner - Grathlyn, Mudgee NSW
"After years of drought we went into a period of unprecedented 'wet'. We were approaching shearing and it was weather in which you could lose a lot of sheep. We were discussing this with a client who recommended to us we use Thermoskin, as he said it was one of the best products he had ever used. We did this on 1500 stud ewes and after seeing the results for ourselves then decided to Thermoskin another 1500 commercial ewes that we had originally not intended doing. We also found that despite the terrible weather, our instance of preg tox was also reduced by the use of Thermoskin with the ewes returning to the paddock so much happier. Thermoskin saved us a lot of time and a lot of worry."
